Twitter a microblogging site started just 2 years ago and today a powerful weapon for bloggers. Why do everyone want more followers on Twitter? And how to get more followers on Twitter? These are few of the questions asked in forums and blogging sites. The answer for why you need more followers is that people who follow you can see your updates without any searching, they may also retweet it and you have the power to send them direct messages as all tweets are not read by your followers. Now if it is clear on why to gain more followers, let us concentrate on gaining more of them.
If you want to promote your blog using Twitter then you want more of the people who are reading your updates than the people who are following you, I say this because I have 1200 Twitter followers and less than half of them really read my updates. Your Twitter Profile
Your Twitter profile is one of the most important aspects to care about as true readers get to know about you and your blog in your profile. It is good if you link your Twitter profile on your blog.Your Twitter homepage should have a good background, your profile should be filled up and a link to your site should be posted. Now you have improved your Twitter profile and now it is time to drive traffic.
- Create a tool/application and promote your profile alongside it.
- Buy a banner ad to target tech-savvy audiences, link it to your profile.
- Use Twitter as a tool for tech/customer support.
- Organize a contest through your Twitter profile
- Include links to your profile in email/forum signatures.
- Evangelize Twitter on your blog/other blogs and include a link to your profile.
- Connect your blog and other social media profiles to your Twitter page.
- Learn to pitch Twitter influencers with articles relevant to their interest
- Explicitly ask another user to recommend your profile or exchange recommendations.
Mass following other users
This is a method which has worked pretty well for me, but it is very time consuming and boring. I would advise you to search the twitter search box and follow some users and even there followers. Twitter allows you to follow only a 1000 people a day, but every 1000 you follow 100 people follow you (This is what I experienced when I did it). So within a month if you do this everyday you will have up to 3000 followers. After you do this try to follow some of your own followers,because this would help improve your relationship.
I can prove the above method , a few days ago Osen Kamura, a fake Twitter profile it had followed 48000 people and in return had got 8000 followers.
Encouraging retweets
After getting a few loyal readers, its good if you put your time for constantly updating your Twitter account with tweets and sometimes you can send out the same tweets again and again. While your sending out Tweets you can encourage your readers to retweet them as it helps you gain readership from their followers and other social platforms, hence it helps increase some loyal readers. You can also put a retweet button on some articles of your site as this helps you get outside followers who have already read your content and maybe much more interested in your tweets.
